The Pre-Open Home Run Sheet.
The 48-hour countdown Uplifta project managers run before every open home.
48 hours out
Fix the doubts
- Walk every room with your phone torch side-lit against walls — fill and touch up scuffs you find
- Tighten every loose handle; oil every squeaking hinge and door
- Replace every blown or mismatched globe with warm white
- Re-run silicone or bleach-clean any mouldy bathroom seals
- Clear gutters visible from the street; straighten the letterbox
24 hours out
Refresh and reset
- Professional-grade clean: benchtops, glass, taps polished dry to a shine
- Windows cleaned inside and out on the light-facing sides
- Lawns mowed, edges cut, one bag of mulch on tired beds, dead plants gone
- Declutter to one-third: benchtops, shelves and floors carry only what sells the room
- Remove personal photos and bold personal items — buyers imagine, they don't visit
2 hours out
Set the scene
- Every curtain and blind fully open; trim any foliage blocking window light
- All lights ON — every room, lamps included, even in daylight
- Air the house 20 minutes then close up; aim for 'nothing' with a hint of fresh coffee or citrus
- Heating or cooling ON: 21–23°C before the first buyer arrives
- Fresh towels folded in threes; beds hotel-tight; toilet lids down
15 minutes out
The final pass
- Cars off the driveway and away from the front of the house
- Pets, bowls, beds and litter out of sight
- Valuables, medications and mail locked away
- Bins hidden, hose coiled, front door glass wiped, doormat straight
- Stand at the kerb: would YOU walk in wanting this home? Fix the one thing that says no
This is the last 48 hours of the system. The 60 days before it are where the real money is made.
