Where it began
A lifetime of helping older Aussies.

I think three years later, when Joan passed, we got the house ready for sale as I was the 'contracted lawn mower' — a young, industrious boy who loved to work. I didn't realise it at the time, but those days in the rain would forge the man I am today. Whatever it is, just get it done.

The founder
A local builder, with a different idea of what "ready to sell" means.
Uplifta is based on the core belief that whatever a client needs, we can help with. After years building for people, entering my 40s I wanted to help people in a more wholesome way, which got me thinking about my childhood. Uplifta is all about a holistic approach. As we get older there are things we can and can't do the way we used to. A few years ago my mum passed and my dad needed to go into a nursing home. The family home was an absolute mess after an 18-month cancer bout, and coupled with Dad's leg issues we needed to sell the home so he could afford a nursing home. After spending $60k, including paying myself at $80 per hour, we got another $280k when selling. What a success — and at that point I treated it like a building reno, not what Uplifta is today. Uplifta exists to build and unlock equity for people when they are selling. We like to optimise. We don't want to replace the whole kitchen if it doesn't need it — we look to spray the fronts. We don't want to redo the bathroom; let's look at painting the tiles and regrouting instead. It's about an uplift, not about ripping the house apart where we don't think there's a good ROI for the client.
Today that same approach runs every Uplifta project — driven by the same little 8-year-old boy from all those years ago.
