Where it began

At eight years old I remember trudging back and forward in the rain, getting tools for dad while he helped one of our elderly neighbours. We didn't give up back then, the job is not done until the tools are put away and that mindset never left me.

Approaching my 41st birthday, I found myself reflecting on my career as a builder. I realised that construction was never the thing that drove me. Building was simply the vehicle. What I loved was helping people solve problems. That understanding became personal when my mum passed away and my dad needed to move into aged care. Faced with preparing the family home for sale, we found ourselves in the same position many families do - overwhelmed, emotional and unsure where to start. Going through that experience changed my life. It gave me a deeper understanding of what people need during major life transitions and inspired a new purpose. The values behind UPLIFTA are the same values that drove me to help my dad: show up, make things easier, and help people achieve the best possible outcome.
